National Right to Life urges support of Bipartisan Budget Act which includes repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB)
Dear Member of Congress:
The National Right to Life Committee, the federation of state right-to-life organizations, urges you to support the Bipartisan Budget Act, which includes the Continuing Resolution for FY18.
The mission of National Right to Life is to protect and defend the most fundamental right, the right to life, for every innocent human being from the beginning of life to natural death. In that defense, we strongly applaud the provision of the Bipartisan Budget Act to repeal the so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).
The IPAB is composed of 15 unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats. IPAB’s powers to slash Medicare spending for seniors would be only the first step. The Board is also directed to limit private, nongovernmental spending on health care to a growth rate below medical inflation. Although most news reports have focused on the Board’s authority to limit government spending in Medicare, little attention has been given to the sweeping danger of rationing healthcare paid for with nongovernmental dollars.
IPAB would mandate drastic limits for the Department of Health and Human Services to impose on what Americans are allowed to spend out of their own funds to save their own lives and the lives of their families. More can be found at: www.nrlc.org/uploads/communications/healthcarereport2014.pdf
National Right to Life urges every Member of Congress to recognize the importance of repealing the Independent Payment Advisory Board. We urge you to support the Bipartisan Budget Act, which includes language to repeal this assault on our health care system and the sanctity of life.
Thank you for your consideration of National Right to Life’s position on this matter of great importance to our organization.
President David N. O’Steen, Ph.D.
Executive Director Jennifer Popik, J.D.

Supreme Court Decision Underscores Need for No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
June 25, 2015
“Federal taxpayer subsidies are helping pay for over 1,000 health plans that cover abortion on demand, and today’s Supreme Court decision underscores that only Congress can put a stop to that,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. more »

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Niece to Obama:
My Uncle Would Oppose Abortion
Denver, CO (LifeNews.com)
The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has a message for pro-abortion presidential candidate Barack Obama before he gives his acceptance speech tonight. Dr. Alveda King tells LifeNews.com that her uncle would have strongly opposed the destruction of human life under the kind of unlimited abortions Obama supports.
Obama’s speech has been hailed by the media because he is the first African-American nominee of a major political party and because it comes on the 45th anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Alveda King called her uncle “a man of great compassion, and a man of non-violence.”
“He once said, ‘The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety,'” she added.
King said her uncle would understand that to include the destruction of unborn children.
“I know in my heart that if Uncle Martin were alive today, he would join with me in the greatest civil rights struggle of this generation – the recognition of the unborn child’s basic right to life,” she told LifeNews.com.
“My uncle Martin would agree that we cannot end poverty, hunger, or suffering by killing those who might suffer,” she explained. “We cannot claim to guarantee equal rights if we deny the rights of the helpless. And we cannot feign ignorance of the fact that those who are torn apart, crushed, or left to die on an abortionist’s table are just as human as we are.”
“My uncle said that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” Alveda continued.
“There is injustice in our land. We have turned being unwanted into a crime penalized by death. Today, I echo the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – let freedom ring. From every mountain top, let freedom ring for all Americans, wanted and unwanted, born and unborn,” she added.
Obama has repeatedly come under fire for his pro-abortion positions — including a litmus test on Supreme Court judges to keep abortions legal another 35 years and wanting taxpayers to fund abortions.
